The regenerative coma failed to materialize - the much needed pause, the space to think about how to stop being exhausted before complete exhaustion sets in. Instead, it appears that the systemic fear of standstill, of an interruption which allows for critical questioning, has only accelerated the extraction of resources. Working spaces and times have massively extended into our remaining safe spaces and places of regeneration. Our bedrooms have become digital offices that are open 24/7, located somewhere between crisis management and burnout.

We are exhausted. We can’t and don’t want more - but rather less. Under the title KOMA KLAR______digital burnout, the Virtual Realities class presents post-pandemic perspectives in resource-conserving 2-minute videos.

The students’ works will be shown in analog form as a video installation, projected onto the front windows of the classroom in the evening, but can also be viewed online on the Kunsthochschule’s website. We are also pleased to present the work of the Virtual Realities class together with the Film and Moving Image class and participants of the Graduate School for Moving Image in an open-air screening.
